Beale’s NLP Podcast: Mentoring CEOs, Networking and Sales

This month I’ve been talking to Judith Germain about how she mentors CEOs and also about how she networks. She tells us the key to mentoring is to be able to establish a relationship of trust, creating a safe space where you have permission to challenge strongly. On networking, Judith suggests networkers need to establish a unique identity as the expert in their field.

I’ve also been talking to David Regler, one of our master practitioners, about how to set up a telemarketing campaign to develop your business. Telemarketing can be an extremely successful way of developing new business – but it’s not cheap and requires careful planning.

You also need to have the right sales skills to follow up any appointments made. Listen to my interview with David, or read the transcript, for some valuable advice.

Listen on iTunes

Remember you can catch up with previous podcasts on iTunes or from our podcast feed.

What actually is NLP?

It’s interesting to watch and listen to both NLP creators Richard Bandler and John Grinder answering the question: What is NLP? Watch the videos, and do let me know what you think.

My own description is that NLP is an exploration of communication, thinking and change. This leads to increased communication skills, confidence, motivation and success, and is directly related to increasing our ability to influence, persuade and coach.

It is also effective in overcoming blocks or barriers caused by a lack of these skills.
Practising NLP techniques can lead not only to personal and business success but also increased personal choice and freedom.

Best NLP Books

I strongly recommend Richard Bandler's Guide to Trance-Formation and Get the Life You Want: The Secrets to Quick and Lasting Life Change with Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
You can see all our current recommendations by clicking this link: Recommended NLP books.

Please feel free to add any other recommendations.

And if you want an independent view of the best NLP books, have a look at Andy Bradbury’s recommendations. I don’t always agree with him, but I always enjoy reading his recommendations.

More Comedy

We’ve added two more George Carlin video clips to our comedy collection – although be aware they may offend some! I’ve ordered his complete collection on DVD, so I’ll let you know what it’s like. Click on the link and scroll down to see him.

Remember, a genuine smile is a key element of NLP…

Our Special Offers

It’s a new year, and the time when good intentions are high – so, if now is the right time for you to attend a training or take advantage of 1:1 coaching, please see our NLP training and NLP Coaching offers.

NLP Definitions of the Month: Parts

Parts: A metaphorical way of talking about independent programmes and strategies of behaviour.

Transactional analysis talks about your 'parent, adult and child' parts. They're not real but can be useful as a way of thinking about or explaining things.

Parts can be used in persuasion; for example, 'There is a part of you that just really wants to benefit from this course; can't you feel how strongly it wants to attend and help you learn? Just focus on it for a while as you notice it’s getting stronger...’

While the concept of parts has many uses, as a generalisation it’s best to make sure we integrate any ‘part’ into a functioning whole at the end of any intervention.

See our A-Z of NLP terms for more definitions.

And finally…

I’d like to thank you for reading this newsletter and, while you may or may not see them yet, the more we get into the New Year the more opportunities you will see and find. And the more you see and find the better the year will become…

Beale's Business NLP, Coaching, Sales and Attraction Newsletter - January 2009

Here’s your January 2009 newsletter from UK NLP trainer Michael Beale of PPI… bringing you valuable hints, tips and information on business NLP, coaching, sales, networking and attraction.

Contents - what’s in your newsletter this month?

  • A warm welcome to 2009!
  • Special Practitioner Offer
  • Personal Coaching Offer
  • NEW Business Master Practitioner
  • Beale’s NLP Podcast: Addiction
  • Seduction Videos
  • NLP Term of the Month: Outcomes
  • And Finally…

A Warm Welcome to 2009!

At the very least 2009 is going to be an exciting and eventful year!

I caught the wrong end of a downturn about 15 years ago when I found myself in the wrong job with a huge mortgage and a young family to support.

So I have great sympathy for anyone who is caught in the current maelstrom. However, 15 years on, and having learned a lot in the meantime, I’m really looking forward to the period we’re moving into.

I suspect, in the current situation, anyone who has genuinely good change and NLP skills is going to have more opportunities presented to them that they can possibly handle.

Whatever situation you find yourself in, I wish you an eventful and successful 2009.

We’ve prepared a particularly strong offer for 2009 and I’m going to spend a bit more time than usual in this newsletter discussing it.

Special Practitioner Offer

We’re offering a limited time £500 discount for anyone who invests in our 8-day modular NLP practitioner accreditation and pays in advance on their credit card. You can then choose to take the modules at times that suit your diary and priorities.

Your investment is £1200+VAT (the normal cost of buying these modules separately is £1767+VAT, so you’ll save over £500 when you take advantage of this time limited offer) .

Personal Coaching Offer

If you’re considering taking on a business or personal coach, I suggest you ‘try out’ as many coaches as you’re able to, so you can choose who is best for you in the context that’s important to you.

This works from the coaches’ point of view too – it’s an efficient way to help them decide who the best people to work with are.

We offer a free 30-minute telephone coaching session – visit our business performance and personal coaching details to learn more. Please note this is a totally free session and we do not talk about our services; however, we’re happy to do so separately.

NEW Business Master Practitioner

We have introduced a NLP Business Practitioner component into our NLP training portfolio. This is for existing practitioners who need to successfully complete four masterclass modules from either Sales, Coaching, Change Management, Presenting, Hypnotic Influence, and Leadership.

Our existing Master Practitioners need only to complete one additional module.

See details from our full range of accredited NLP courses.

Beale’s NLP Podcast: Addiction

This month I talk to Canadian NLP Trainer Anita Kozlowski about helping people with addictions.

Her metaphor for how she works with clients is, “As a tour guide walking along with them and guiding them across a trail to a place where they want to get… they may not have the courage and they may not have the means… yet for most of them we travel together quickly and successfully…”

You can listen to or read the discussion on the transcript from: Anita Kozlowski on smoking and addiction.

Seduction Videos

While you may or may not approve of the way the subject is presented in these videos, there are a lot of useful parallels between seduction and selling and networking and leadership.

In addition, I find some of them hugely entertaining. I’ve included some of the best YouTube videos on our forum.

The videos include: David DeAngelo (approaching women), Mystery (fear of the approach), Neil Strauss (The Five Question Game), and Ross Jeffries (Fundamentals). You can see and listen to them from NLP Seduction Videos.

NLP Definition of the Month: Outcomes

Outcomes are to motivate and set a direction, and to make the journey more enjoyable. The bigger and more exciting the outcomes, the better! The basic rules are that your outcomes must be:

  • Positive (that is, they are something you want rather than you want to avoid)
  • Under your control (acquiring the skills to get a new job is under your control - getting a specific job may not be)
  • Achievable in at least three senses (e.g., you can see, hear and feel what it would be like to achieve your outcome - and maybe smell and taste it too!)
  • Ecological (getting them will do you and those closest to you good)

And remember, if and when they’re not working, change them. And sometimes you may just want to enjoy the journey.

See our A-Z of NLP terms.

And finally…

…I’d like to end where I started, and again wish you huge success for the New Year.

Enjoy, take care, and remember that one of our most enjoyable challenges is to find out what we’re really good at.
