Richard Wiseman’s new book is a must read for anyone interested in coaching and change. Allegedly based on research, it gives fascinating tips on topics ranging from happiness, motivation and attraction. For example:
Develop the gratitude attitude
Have people list three things a day they are grateful for. It can increase their happiness, optimism and health.
Buy a pot plant for the office
It can increase creativity by 15%!
Visualise yourself doing, not achieving
Visualising yourself having achieved your goal can lessen your chance of succeeding, whereas visualising doing what you can do to achieve your goal can increase your chances.
Touch people lightly on the upper arm
Touching on the upper arm can demonstrate high status. When tested on the street, this strategy increased the success of getting telephone numbers from total strangers by 10%.

NLP Definition of the Month: Timeline
A ‘timeline’ is a subjective construct which metaphorically organises your clients’ past, present and future in space.
One of the most interesting aspects of timeline is where you start.
As a generalisation for small incremental change, start with the present and then explore the future
However, if you’re looking for big or transformational change, start with future and work backwards to make the best plan.
