Have a Really Successful New Year
Have a really interesting and successful New Year!
I’m one of those people who believe that success starts with us on the inside and in our ability to deal with whatever happens on the outside.
I wish you all those internal resources that will enable you to have a successful and enjoyable 2010... and in doing so contribute to, and be an inspiration to, others’ successes.
Ignore Everybody
(But maybe not until you have read this newsletter...)
Hugh MacLeod has made a success of drawing cartoons on peoples’ business cards. His book ‘Ignore Everybody – And 39 Other Keys to Creativity’ is enjoyable and easy to read, and dispenses a certain amount of part ‘obvious’ and part ‘tough’ wisdom.
You can get a flavour of the book from a random selection of the contents:
- The idea doesn’t have to be big; it just has to be yours
- Good ideas have lonely childhoods
- You are responsible for your own experiences
- Everybody has their own private Mount Everest they were put on earth to climb
- Nobody cares – do it for yourself
- The best way to get approval is not to need it
- Remain frugal
- Savour obscurity while it lasts
- When your dreams become reality, they are no longer your dreams
- This is not rocket science
Our Plans for 2010
We’ve been working enjoyably and hard to develop our 2010 offers; do take advantage of them.

In addition we are:

Working with NLP Business Trainer Paul Jarvis on a series of ‘NLP in Business’ diploma courses in Madrid and Geneva throughout the year (they’re a real must!)
You can check all dates on our: seminar registration form
Releasing our eBook, ‘A Useful Guide to Using NLP for Coaching and Mentoring’, which summarises much of what I’ve learned in the practical application of NLP over the past ten years. It comes out soon, so watch this space
We have also completely updated our NLP resources store. For example, we now have video clips from many of our Richard Bandler DVDs; these are well worth looking at whether you choose to buy the DVDs or not. We also have an additional range of recommended Jonathan Altfeld CDs and DVDs together with much, much more.
NLP Video: Modelling
Modelling is one of the core skills in NLP.
To find out more about modelling, watch and listen to a short video where I explain to Liam Beale three approaches to modelling and take him through Richard Bandler’s ‘Stealing a Skill’ exercise. Just click on this video link: Success through Modelling.
Ambition for our Coaching Network
Last month I said I’d set a challenge for the Executive and Business Coaching Network; the challenge was to get to the top of Google for the terms ‘executive coaching’ and ‘business coaching’ within 18 months.
Well, I’ve re-launched the site and we’ve already achieved number five for the term ‘Executive Coaching’ in the UK, so we’re well on track. Remember, this is about a group of coaches working together to provide great ‘coaching content’ rather than any clever ‘SEO’ activity.
I’m still looking for one or two additional coaches to help on the journey. Curious? If so, have a look at our Information for Coaches.
I’m particularly pleased we’ve started writing coaching case studies, as it gives the community an indication of the wide value of coaching.
Definition of the Month: Trance Logic
This is a fascinating phenomenon where if someone has been hypnotised and has carried out a post-hypnotic suggestion (for example, they’ve barked like a dog), they often come up with some ‘logical’ explanation of their behaviour; the ‘explanation’ is untrue and yet amazingly creative.
It’s worth remembering that as human beings we may be exceptionally creative when we justify what we do – but not necessarily accurate!
NLP Training: Glossary A-Z
And Finally...
I’m surprisingly proud of being a granddad! This is my granddaughter, Mia either being cute or learning how to deal with adults, or both. It looks good in full screen HD too!
As always, thank you for reading this. Remember it’s your unique experiences that contribute to the wisdom of the world.
