Beale’s NLP Podcast: Metaphor and Story telling

Storytelling and humour are key building blocks of NLP and influence. I’m delighted to have recorded podcasts from NLP trainer Stephanie Philp, from New Zealand, and NLP Trainer Doug O’Brien, from New York, about the uses of metaphor and stories.

We discuss:

  • What a metaphor is
  • How metaphors are used
  • How to construct metaphors

Stephanie has also added a short selection of jokes. If you would like to add any other jokes, however good (or bad) I’d be delighted if you did so.

Next month’s episodes will feature health.

So what do I believe about NLP?

I invited colleague Ryan Nagy to ask me some questions about my thoughts on NLP. I now know what it’s like to be at the 'being questioned' end of a podcast! It's slightly more of a challenge than I thought.

By the way, you’ll hear a reference to DHE (design human engineering); for that, read NHR, which stands for neuro-hypnotic repatterning. The transcript has the intended term NHR written in.

See Richard Bandler and John La Valle in Amsterdam

NLP co-founder Richard Bandler will be in Amsterdam, 9-12 May 2008, bringing a very special opportunity to people in Europe. Dr Richard Bandler, the co-creator of NLP and genius of Design Human Engineering™ and Neuro Hypnotic Repatterning™ will teach his newest discoveries in the field of human evolution and development.

For more details of this exciting workshop, see the SNLP European website.

Remember you can buy a wide range of Richard Bandler CDs and DVDs from our NLP CD store. Even better, we’ve been able to reduce some of our DVD prices, so take a look now!

FREE NLP Taster evenings are back!

I’ve decided to run one free NLP taster evening in London and one in Milton Keynes, so you can find out for yourself what NLP’s about.

However, they will be the only ones I’m running in 2008 so I recommend you reserve your place now. I look forward to meeting you.

Start the Adventure

If you’re ready to take the first step to practitioner training, we’re running a two-day NLP foundation on the 8-9 May 2008 and the 8-9 September 2008. Places go quickly, so register now to get your place.

You can read, in our forum, how people benefit from NLP training.

NLP Definition of the month – Gustatory

Relating to taste or the sense of taste

This is one of the (at least) five senses, which include visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, gustatory and olfactory modes. Gustatory words include sweet, bitter, salty and sour.

It’s nearly always worth noticing which sensory words your clients use, and including all the senses in your communication, because clients then relate to you better and rapport increases. Next time you’re planning a presentation, add a few taste words and notice if you get a different response.

See our other NLP definitions from our full A-Z of NLP terms.

Forum grows – Thanks for your help

Many thanks for those that have joined our forum and particularly those who have registered as full members.

When you've registered, say something about what you do and about your particular skills, and then post your comments. Please look around and reply to other posts.

And finally…

PPI Seminar Dates

Our core business will always be delivering the best NLP training.

Would you like to benefit from knowing more about NLP?

Then come and train with us! The longer you put it off, the longer it will take you to achieve what’s important to you.

The corollary, of course, is the sooner you train, the sooner you’ll achieve your goals. If you’re not entirely sure, just come to one of our taster sessions first. What I can say is, a good, basic knowledge of NLP will help you in your personal and business life.

In fact, many then choose to take NLP to further levels, and we cater for that too. And, remember, you save £167 when you book all three practitioner modules at one time. To find out about the dates and registration details for our taster sessions and accredited courses click on our NLP seminar registration page.
