Beale's NLP, Coaching, Sales and Attraction Newsletter – September 2008

Business NLP, Coaching, Sales and Attraction Newsletter – September 2008

Hi, here’s your September 2008 newsletter from UK NLP trainer Michael Beale of PPI … bringing you valuable hints, tips and information on business NLP, coaching, sales, networking and attraction.

Contents - what’s in your newsletter this month

  • Beale’s NLP Podcast: Benefits and Leadership
  • New Richard Bandler Books
  • Motivation Thread
  • Start the Adventure
  • NLP Term of the Month
  • And Finally…

Beale’s NLP Podcast: Benefits and Leadership

I’m delighted that Richard Sanders, Group Strategy Director at the John Lewis Partnership, agreed to take part in this month’s podcast discussing both the benefits he’s received from NLP and his approach to leadership.

He’s found that NLP has given him a framework to help guide him with through some of the baggage of history, politics and personal preconceptions associated with any large business change. He also approaches his leadership in an ‘influencer’ rather than a ‘line’ role.

Click here to listen to or read the podcast transcript on NLP benefits or leadership.

New Richard Bandler Books

Richard is launching two new books Richard Bandler's Guide to Trance-Formation: Hypnosis for Everybody and Get the Life You Want: The Secrets to Quick and Lasting Life Change with Neuro-Linguistic Programming

They are now available for pre-order. I suspect the first copies will sell out quickly, so if you’re interested it’s worth placing your order now.

I’ll also bring to your attention my favourite of Richard’s DVD’s, ‘Class of a Master’, which is a four DVD set showing Richard presenting to a studio audience.

Also take a look at the ‘Marshall Tapes’, which are copies of video tapes of Richard doing 1:1 work. If you like Richard’s work you’ll really enjoy them.

Motivation Thread

How do you actually motivate yourself and keep yourself motivated? Do you have any approaches to motivating others?

Please read and or add to this thread on our forum. If you’re not a member yet, junior membership is free and it only takes three minutes to register.

Just click this link to go to the Motivation thread

Start the Adventure

You’ve already taken at least the first step in reading this newsletter, so why not take another step? Start your practitioner training by reserving a place on a two-day NLP foundation course on the 8-9th September or on the 4-5th December 2008.

These foundation courses are popular, so register now to ensure your place.

Remember you do NOT have to do any pre-work for our courses. Delegates tend to learn and enjoy them more if they come with an open and curious state on mind. If you enjoy reading, be aware it’s normally much more effective to read after you’ve had the experiential experience of a course. It’s also better NLP!

NLP Definition of the month – Metaphor

Which includes stories, parables and analogiesIt's worth remembering that stories, etc, are and always have been one of the strongest mediums for getting a message across. It's worth being aware that when we run 'presentation skills' seminars and ask delegates, 'How do you know when someone really knows their subject?', the most common answer is, ‘They illustrate what they say with stories.’

You can listen to Doug O’Brien and Stephanie Philp discuss aspects of metaphor.

And finally

…something different! Liam Beale’s China podcast

Following a year studying martial arts in China, my son Liam has just finished a Martial Arts degree in the UK and is currently in finishing off the thesis for this in Japan. He transcribes all our podcasts.

Before he left for Japan he completed a short podcast on some of his Martial Arts adventures in China.

Enjoy and take care

Beale's Business NLP, coaching, sales and attraction newsletter - November 2007

Hi , here’s your November 2007 newsletter from UK NLP trainer Michael Beale of PPI … bringing you valuable hints, tips and information on business NLP, coaching, sales, networking and attraction.

Contents - what’s in your newsletter this month

  • Benefits of NLP: November Podcast
  • Beale’s NLP podcast
  • London taster evening
  • The £100 and future plan
  • Great new NLP CD’s and DVD’s
  • Attraction and Seduction books
  • NLP definition of the month:
  • PPI Seminar Dates (2007/8)
  • Gambia – The Ultimate Journey

And finally, something new, something different…an opportunity to learn about stock market trading.

Benefits of NLP: November’s pod cast

This month I was particularly pleased to speak to AstraZeneca’s Organisational Development Partner, James Prior. James looks after leadership development within one of the worlds largest pharmaceutical companies.

We discuss:

  • how he’s benefited from NLP
  • what advice he would give to someone starting NLP training
  • what advice he would give someone who had finished their first NLP training

You can listen and/or read here: NLP Benefits Podcast - James Prior , please allow 1 minute for connection to the MP3 file.

Beale’s NLP Podcast

I’ve added a number of podcasts on managing change, networking and sales / business development. You can listen to the discussions from Beale’s NLP Podcast.

We’re still looking for more sales / business development people to talk to. If you genuinely feel you have something to contribute in this area let me know.

London taster evening

A consistent theme when talking to individuals about the best way of learning NLP is that that it’s really beneficial experiencing NLP before reading about it.

You can too. For only £10 you can attend the next London taster on the Tuesday 11th December 2007 at Regents College, near Baker Street.

To ensure you guarantee a place we suggest you book early. We do ask for a (non refundable) payment when you book.

You can book now from our seminar booking page.

While I strongly recommend you attend – they’re incredibly good fun and value, if you can’t make the taster evening and are genuinely interested in attending a training I may be able to arrange a 1:1 to discuss any questions you have. If so drop me a note at michaelbeale@ppimk.com.

Win £100 and future plans!

Thanks for those that made suggestions for the name of our future membership site. The cash prize winner will be announced next month.

Great new NLP CD’s

We’re now stocking three great new CD sets: Richard Bandler’s Meditation, Magick and Change (2 CD’s) and Hypnosis in Munich (23 CD’s – in English!) and Doug O’Brien’s How deep is the rabbit hole? (7 CD’s – about hypnosis and shamanism) Check them out. I’ll be reviewing them individually over the next three months.

Attraction and seduction books

I’ve updated my attraction and seduction reading list which now includes books on seduction like ‘the game’ and ‘the mystery method’ as well books on genes and human evolution, female pleasure, romance novels, poetry and English literature.

While not all that is written is true they do give additional insights to an important part of human communication – which is often missed or ignored. Let me know if you think there are any key books I’ve missed.

NLP definition of the month: Context

The context is the framework surrounding a particular event. This framework will often determine how a particular experience or event is interpreted.

An example could be time or place. Would the experience or event be different if it occurred at a different time or place? What can you learn by imagining experiencing the event in a different time or place?

Context and frames are an extremely important part of communication. In any challenging situation it is often the person who sets the context or frame that achieves their outcome.
See our other NLP definitions from our full A-Z of NLP terms.

PPI Seminar Dates (2007/8)

Would you like to benefit from knowing more about NLP? Then come and train with us! The longer you put it off the longer it will take you to achieve what’s important to you.

If you’re not entirely sure, just come to one of our taster sessions first. What I can say is, a good, basic knowledge of NLP will help you in your personal and business life.

In fact, many then choose to take NLP to further levels, and we cater for that too.
And, remember, you save £167 when you book all three practitioner modules at one time.

To find out about the dates and registration details for our taster sessions and accredited courses click on our NLP seminar registration page.

Gambia – The Ultimate Journey

Journey within a Journey - Gambia 2008 - Still places available

A close colleague, Clay Lowe, asked me to mention this 'one-off' special programme, which takes place in Feb/March 2008. It has been expertly designed to take you on a personal journey that will add a whole new level of fulfillment, clarity and joy in your life.

There is a maximum of 30 places on this 'once only' programme and he will need to hear from you straight away if you are considering being part of the magic (as we will be securing flights fairly soon).

To speak to Clay call 07790 909 505 so you can discuss the programme or visit Clay’s Blog

And finally, something new, something different…

I attended an evening seminar on Stock market option trading hosted by Greg Secker of Knowledge to Action, who was modeled by Paul Mckenna as part of his ‘make you rich’ project. While I can’t comment on his methodologies I was really impressed with the seminar.

If the topic is of interest I do recommend you attend.

And you can do so for free as we’re pleased to offer you complimentary tickets to what is considered to be one of the UKs top trading seminars. In recent years more people have started to trade the stock market to make an additional or primary income.

If you would like to find out how, Traders University presented by Knowledge To Action are holding seminars across the U.K and Ireland and would like to offer you complimentary tickets to attend. - You won't be oversold to!

To register please click here

And until next time …remember that until you take action you don’t really know how well something will work...

What Richard communicates so well is the 'spirit' of NLP - which is often what makes the differences between an average and excellent practitioner.

You can view our top 10 NLP DVD, CDs here.

NLP definition of the month: Calibration

Calibration can be described as the process of learning to read another person's unconscious and non-verbal responses.

One of the significant benefits of NLP training is that you begin to watch and listen more carefully to people without necessarily judging what you see and hear.

The more accurate the information you take in the better your decisions are likely to be.
See our full A-Z of NLP terms.

ANLP article and FREE Magazine PDF

How long does it take to master NLP? My own view is that while you can benefit from the first NLP intervention the more you know about NLP the more you realise there is always much more to learn.

The moment you think you 'understand' NLP is the moment you stop learning. Andy Coote has written an interesting article on "How many years did you study at University to be able to do this?" for Rapport magazine, which is available for you to read.

The ANLP has also agreed to let readers of this newsletter have a free PDF of the latest issue of their Rapport Magazine. Simply email admin@anlp.org, quoting reference 'ppir1' with 'free rapport pdf' in the title.

Negotiation Tip: The Prisoner's Dilemma

Just been rereading the 'The evolution of cooperation' by Robert Axelrod, Out of many strategies for playing the game 'The Prisoner's Dilemma' - which is about how people interact and negotiate, one very simple approach succeeded more any other.

It is called 'Tit for Tat'. It has been tested over time, competing with many other strategies and consistently produces top or near top results. It can be a useful mindset for negotiation.

It has two main two rules. In any interaction with another person always start positive and then reciprocate how they behave back to you.

That is if they're positive to you be positive back, if they're negative to you be negative back.

However you may choose to break a 'spiral' of negativity by starting the interaction again - and being positive, then still follow reciprocation rule. See more.
